That’s Amaro! Bully Boy Distillers today announces the release of the Bully Boy Amaro, an exotic take on the classic Italian spirit that draws inspiration from the booming American craft beer scene. With an alluring blend of global flavors and a strong grapefruit base, Bully Boy Amaro emphasizes the spirit’s defining bitterness with the addition of four distinct Washington state-grown hops.
While the Italian digestif is typically crafted with a neutral grain base, Bully Boy begins with a fusion of neutral grain and rum, which creates a harmonious foundation to balance the blend of hops, botanicals, herbs and spices. The addition of Cascade, Amarillo, Citra and Galaxy hops creates assertive bitter notes that are complimented by over 26 globally-grown botanicals including yarrow, rhubarb root, fig, Szechuan peppercorn and California coriander. As one of the first American-made amaros, Bully Boy further amplifies its nontraditional flavor profile with the use of grapefruit that deviates from amaro’s typical lemon and orange flavors.
“With the steady rise of interest in amaro stateside, we wanted to create an innovative version with a blend of unique global flavors,” says Dave Willis, co-founder and head distiller of Bully Boy Distillers. “As we continue to experiment and push boundaries with our spirits, we are extremely proud to add this delicious blend to our spirit lineup and introduce one of the first American-made amaros to the market.”
Priced at $28.99 for a 750ml bottle, Bully Boy Amaro is 29% alcohol by volume and joins Bully Boy’s diverse portfolio of handcrafted spirits at retailers, restaurants and bars throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut by the end of October 2018.
