A Pineau des Charentes Range from Merlet

UnnamedJoining the popular line of premium cognacs and liqueurs, Merlet is pleased to announce the release of Pineau des Charentes in the United States.

Pineau des Charentes is a traditional appellation of origin (“AOC”) of fortified wine from the Cognac region. It is as old as the famous spirit itself, largely consumed locally as an apéritif, but very unknown outside of its lands.

Pineau des Charentes comes from a happy marriage between lightly fermented grape-must and Cognac. Aged over years in mellow old oak barrels, the blend slowly matures and develops a complex bouquet of aromas of dried fruit and spices.

Merlet’s exciting new Pineau des Charentes lineup includes these three new spirits that will be making their way to package stores and drinking establishments across the U.S.

CHEVESSAC BLANC
ABV: 17%
Grape variety: Ugni Blanc, Colombard
Aged in oak barrels, marriage of young (more than two and a half years) and old (until 6 years) pineaux.

CHEVESSAC ROSE

Grape variety: Merlot, Cabernet
Aged in oak barrels, marriage of young (more than two and a half years) and old (until 6 years) pineaux.

CHEVESSAC EXTRA-VIEUX

The long aging of this Pineau des Charentes leads to a fine maturation and concentration of the white grape varieties giving a unique harmonious savor. Elegance, balance, finesse and a long lingering on the palate make this an exceptional product.

The suggested retail price for the Chevessac Blanc and Rose is $25.95 and the Extra-Vieux is $36.95.
